How we rate
Every review on this site is a considered take on an album’s place in its genre and the broader musical conversation. We rate on a 1–10 scale, with no half-points and no grade inflation.
| Rating | Label | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | Essential | A landmark record. If you care about music, you need to hear this. |
| 8–9 | Great | Excellent — stands out in its genre and rewards repeat listens. |
| 6–7 | Good | Solid work with clear strengths, even if it doesn’t reinvent the wheel. |
| 4–5 | Below Average | Has moments, but serious weaknesses hold it back. |
| 1–3 | Bad | Fails at what it sets out to do. Not recommended. |
